What are the effects of bed bug bites?

Bites may appear as itchy bumps or patches on exposed skin, sometimes grouped or arranged in a line. The reaction can be mild or quite inflamed, and marks may become more noticeable after scratching. Some people react with delayed itch, so the timing of a new mark does not always identify when the bite occurred.

Scratching can break the surface and allow a secondary bacterial infection to develop.
