Dry skin and pimples on the cheeks

Tightness, flaking, and roughness may follow a harsh cleanser, over-exfoliation, cold air, or acne products that irritate the cheeks. Small bumps can also be inflamed follicles or acne, while itchy or cracked patches may fit asteatotic eczema or atopic dermatitis. Psoriasis can cause defined, scaly areas and may affect more than the face. A dry appearance does not identify one diagnosis by itself.

Wash with lukewarm water and a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Apply a bland moisturiser while the skin is still slightly damp, and avoid scrubs, picking, fragranced products, and frequent product changes. If a new acne product burns or increases peeling, pause it and seek advice about a gentler plan. Emollient therapy may help restore comfort, but a clinician can check whether bumps need separate acne treatment.

Arrange a dermatology assessment if the rash is spreading, painful, intensely itchy, repeatedly cracking, or not settling with gentle care. Seek prompt help for facial swelling, eye involvement, pus, fever, or rapidly worsening redness. Bring the products and medicines used on the cheeks, including anything started shortly before the flare.
