What should you know about dry itchy bumps on skin?

Small rough bumps may accompany Dry Skin or Asteatotic Eczema, while Atopic Dermatitis can produce itchy inflamed patches and bumps. Psoriasis may create thicker areas with scale. Bumps that follow a new product, fabric, or detergent may reflect irritation or contact sensitivity. Location, symmetry, scale, drainage, speed of change, and whether other household members itch help separate these possibilities. Appearance alone cannot confirm a diagnosis.

Cleanse gently with lukewarm water, pat dry, and apply a fragrance-free emollient while the skin is still slightly damp. Repeat regularly, choose breathable clothing, and keep nails short to limit damage from scratching. Stop newly introduced fragranced products, harsh exfoliants, and hot baths. Emollient Therapy can support the barrier, but a clinician may recommend a different treatment if the bumps are inflamed, infected, or linked to another condition. Do not squeeze or pick them.

Arrange a review if the bumps spread, recur, disturb sleep, leave sores, or do not improve with gentle barrier care.
