Does tranexamic acid treat adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis occurs when tissue like the uterine lining is found within the muscular wall of the uterus. It can contribute to heavy or prolonged periods and painful cramps. Tranexamic acid acts on clot breakdown during bleeding, so its effect is limited to reducing blood loss during the days it is taken.

It does not shrink the uterus, remove tissue in the muscle or correct the underlying condition. Pelvic pain, pressure, fertility concerns or bleeding between periods may need a broader plan.

Discuss your symptoms and medical history before starting treatment, especially any previous blood clot, kidney problem or medicine affecting clotting. Follow the prescribed schedule and note how much bleeding, pain and fatigue affect daily life.
