Erythrasma is a superficial infection linked with Corynebacterium bacteria. It commonly appears as a brownish or reddish patch with fine scale in areas such as the groin, armpits, or between toes. A rash with a similar appearance can have another cause, including a fungal infection or inflammatory dermatitis; the treatment would then differ.
