Does under-eye filler help with dark circles?

A hollow tear trough can create a shadow where the lower eyelid meets the cheek. Carefully placed filler may restore some volume and soften that contour. Dark circles can also reflect pigment, visible blood vessels, thin skin, swelling, allergies, rubbing, or a combination of factors; filler does not treat all of these. An assessment should consider the skin, the under-eye contour, puffiness, and nearby cheek support.

Choose an experienced medical injector who can assess whether the darkness is mainly shadowing or pigment. Share your medical history, allergies, previous filler, eye conditions, and medicines that affect bleeding. Ask about the product, amount, expected swelling, and alternatives. Mild swelling or bruising can occur after injection. Contact the injector for worsening pain, increasing redness, warmth, discharge, or marked swelling. Seek emergency care for sudden vision changes, severe eye pain, unusual skin paling or mottling, weakness, or severe headache after filler.
