Does stress fracture cause limping?

Short answer
Limping is a common presentation of Stress Fracture because pain can make normal weight-bearing and push-off difficult.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why your walking may change
A stress fracture is an overuse injury in which repeated loading irritates bone. To reduce discomfort, you may shorten your stride, place less weight on one side, or avoid pushing off through the foot. This protective pattern is limping. It can appear during activity first and then remain noticeable during ordinary walking.
Limping can also result from muscle, joint, tendon, or nerve problems. A clinician will consider where the pain is, whether there is swelling or tenderness, and what changed before symptoms began.
How to respond
Stop running, jumping, and other impact while you are limping. Keep necessary walking brief and steady, and use support only as advised. Do not try to walk through a worsening limp because altered loading can stress other parts of the leg.
Arrange an assessment if the limp lasts, keeps returning, or prevents normal activities. Tell the clinician about recent training, footwear changes, work demands, and the exact point where pain is strongest.
When to get urgent help
Seek prompt care if you cannot bear weight, the limb appears deformed, swelling develops quickly, pain is severe, or the foot becomes numb, cold, or unusually pale. A persistent limp should be assessed even when pain seems manageable.
Useful questions
Ask whether your gait suggests that the bone needs protection, whether imaging is suitable, what weight-bearing level is allowed, and how to return to walking and exercise without bringing the limp back.

Questions people ask
Should I exercise while limping?
Avoid impact exercise and arrange advice if the limp does not settle with reduced loading.
Can limping cause other pain?
Yes. Changing how you walk can place extra strain on nearby joints and muscles.
