Does shockwave therapy treat golfer's elbow?

Golfer's elbow, also called medial epicondylitis, involves the tendon attachments on the inner side of the elbow. Gripping, lifting, throwing, or repeated wrist bending can make the area sore. Shockwave therapy uses focused mechanical pulses over the involved tendon. It is intended to encourage a more manageable environment for recovery; it does not repair every cause of elbow pain and is not a substitute for confirming the diagnosis.

Have a clinician assess your elbow, grip, neck, and nerve function before choosing treatment. A plan may include reducing forceful gripping for a time, adjusting tools or technique, and building forearm strength gradually with exercises. Keep the clinician informed about numbness, blood-thinning medicine, bleeding conditions, infection, or recent steroid treatment. Follow the advised activity limits after a session and increase loading in stages.
