Risk-reducing endocrine therapy does not remove lobular carcinoma in situ, but it may lower future breast cancer risk. LCIS is an abnormal change in breast lobules and is generally managed through an individual risk-reduction and surveillance plan.

Endocrine medicines reduce the effect of oestrogen on breast cells. A specialist may offer this option after LCIS when the expected benefit fits the person's breast cancer risk and health history. The medicine does not excise the LCIS area, replace follow-up imaging, or guarantee that breast cancer will not develop.

Discuss the pathology report, whether the finding is classic or pleomorphic LCIS, and how it affects your personal risk. Ask about clinical examinations, breast imaging, lifestyle measures, and the advantages and disadvantages of endocrine therapy.
