Does pulsed dye laser treatment treat rosacea?

The laser delivers targeted light that is absorbed by blood vessels close to the skin surface. This can soften diffuse redness and make individual red or purple vessels less noticeable. It does not treat every rosacea feature: bumps, pus-filled spots, eye symptoms, and flushing triggers may need different care. Several appointments may be suggested, depending on the area, colour, vessel pattern, and how your skin responds. Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or sensitivity can occur after treatment, and darker or lighter marks are possible.

A dermatologist can first confirm that the redness is rosacea and check for acne, dermatitis, sun damage, or another vascular condition. Bring a list of medicines and skincare products, especially anything that increases light sensitivity. Before treatment, discuss cooling, eye protection, sun avoidance, and whether your skin tone or recent tanning changes the plan. Continue gentle cleansing and broad-spectrum sun protection as advised, and avoid picking or rubbing treated skin while it settles.

Contact the treating clinic if swelling becomes increasingly painful, blisters develop, the skin breaks down, or redness spreads rather than settling. Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty. New eye pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision, or a gritty eye sensation needs prompt assessment because rosacea can affect the eyes.
