Does prostatitis cause blood in urine?

Inflammation of the prostate can irritate nearby tissue and the urinary passage, allowing a small amount of blood to appear in urine. Prostatitis may also bring burning during urination, pelvic or lower-back discomfort, urinary urgency, a weak stream or pain with ejaculation. Symptoms vary between sudden infection and longer-lasting pelvic pain syndromes.

Blood in urine is not specific to prostatitis. A urinary infection, kidney or bladder stone, prostate enlargement, kidney disease and other conditions can produce similar changes.
