Does pelvic floor repair surgery treat pelvic organ prolapse?

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when support around the vagina, bladder, bowel, or womb becomes weaker. Repair surgery may restore support in the affected part of the pelvic floor. The operation depends on which organ is involved, your symptoms, examination findings, previous procedures, and future pregnancy plans. It may improve pressure, bulging, or bladder and bowel difficulties, but symptoms can have more than one cause.
