Does narrowband UVB phototherapy treat guttate psoriasis?

Guttate psoriasis often appears as many small, drop-shaped scaly spots across the trunk or limbs. Narrowband UVB exposes affected skin to a controlled part of the ultraviolet B spectrum and can reduce the inflammatory activity that drives psoriasis plaques. A dermatologist may consider it when the affected area is extensive or when creams alone are difficult to use. The clinician will also review whether a recent sore throat or other illness, medication change, joint symptoms, or another diagnosis affects the plan. Light treatment does not remove every trigger or prevent every future flare.

Tell the dermatology team about recent infections, new medicines, past light reactions, and any history of skin cancer.
