Does laser toning treat acanthosis nigricans?

Acanthosis nigricans commonly creates darker, velvety, thicker skin in folds such as the neck, underarms, or groin. The colour is only one part of the condition; friction, irritation, medicines, and metabolic factors can all be relevant. Laser toning targets pigment in the skin, so a visible change may be possible when pigment is the main concern. It cannot correct a driver elsewhere in the body, and irritated or thickened skin may respond differently from flat pigmentation.

The clinician can examine the texture and distribution, review recent changes and medicines, and decide whether another health check is appropriate. If treatment is suitable, ask about the laser settings, the expected course, cooling, and how your skin tone affects the risk of temporary darkening or lightening.
