Does hysteroscopic polypectomy treat endometrial polyps?

An endometrial polyp develops from the lining of the womb. During hysteroscopic polypectomy, a thin camera passes through the vagina and cervix into the womb, so the clinician can identify the polyp and remove it with instruments designed for the procedure. This targeted approach can also show whether the surrounding womb cavity looks normal. The tissue is usually sent for laboratory assessment. Removal may help with symptoms such as bleeding between periods, heavy periods, or bleeding after menopause, but symptoms can have other causes and may need separate evaluation.
