Does hip labral tear cause groin pain?

Short answer
Groin Pain is a common presentation of Hip Labral Tear, often accompanied by catching, clicking or pain during hip movement.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How a labral tear may feel
The labrum is a ring of tissue around the hip socket that helps the joint move smoothly and remain stable. When it is irritated or torn, pain may feel deep in the groin and may worsen with pivoting, sitting, squatting or sport. Some people notice clicking, catching, stiffness or a feeling of instability. A tear can occur after a twist or impact, or alongside changes in hip shape and repeated loading. Groin pain alone cannot identify a labral tear.
What to do next
Stop or modify the activity that triggers sharp pain, catching or twisting discomfort, while keeping gentle movement within a comfortable range. Do not repeatedly force the hip to click or test painful positions. A clinician can examine hip motion, strength and gait, and decide whether imaging is appropriate. Physiotherapy may work on hip and trunk strength, movement control and a gradual return to activity; treatment depends on the findings and your goals.
When to seek care
Arrange an appointment if groin pain continues, interrupts sleep, limits walking or repeatedly catches. Seek urgent care after an injury if you cannot bear weight, or if severe pain comes with a deformed leg, numbness, a cold foot, fever or a hot swollen joint. These features may point to a different urgent problem or a more serious injury.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether your symptoms fit a labral problem or another source, what the examination shows, and whether a scan would be useful. Discuss activity changes, physiotherapy goals, pain relief and what worsening signs should prompt earlier review.

Questions people ask
Does groin pain confirm a hip labral tear?
No. Groin pain can come from several hip, muscle, tendon or back problems. Diagnosis requires a clinical assessment and may involve imaging.
Can a labral tear settle with physiotherapy?
Symptoms may improve with tailored activity changes and rehabilitation for strength and movement control. Your clinician can explain the suitable plan.
