Testicular cancer is treated with cancer-directed care, which may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or monitoring depending on the diagnosis. Fertility preservation is separate supportive care. A fertility specialist may discuss collecting and storing sperm before treatment, particularly when future biological children are important to you. Your care team can coordinate preservation with cancer treatment, especially if treatment needs to begin soon. Ask about semen testing, storage arrangements, and whether fertility testing or support will be useful after treatment.

Contact the treating team promptly if surgery or cancer treatment is approaching and fertility has not been addressed. Seek urgent care for sudden severe testicular pain, fainting, heavy bleeding, or difficulty breathing. These symptoms require prompt assessment and are separate from decisions about fertility preservation.

Ask: Could my cancer or planned treatment affect sperm production? Should I bank sperm before treatment? How many collection visits might be feasible? How will preservation fit with my treatment schedule? When can fertility be assessed later? What options exist if I have difficulty producing a sample?
