Does elbow arthroscopy treat elbow osteoarthritis?

Elbow arthroscopy uses a camera and small instruments through small openings to inspect and treat the joint. In selected people, it can remove loose fragments, clear inflamed lining, smooth limited areas, or address a mechanical block that restricts bending and straightening. Its value depends on the arthritis pattern, pain source, range of motion, previous injury, and whether symptoms come from a removable obstruction. Advanced joint wear may need a different surgical discussion, while some symptoms can be managed without an operation.

An orthopaedic assessment can combine your history, examination, and imaging to identify the source of pain or locking. Before deciding, discuss activity changes, physiotherapy, medicines, injections when suitable, and the goals and limits of arthroscopy. Tell the clinician about numbness, neck symptoms, previous elbow operations, and work or sport demands. Rehabilitation usually focuses on restoring movement gradually while protecting the healing portals.

Seek urgent care for a hot, very swollen elbow with fever, a new deformity after injury, a cold or discoloured hand, worsening numbness, or inability to move the fingers.
