Can dermal fillers treat nasolabial folds?

Nasolabial folds, sometimes called smile lines, extend from the sides of the nose toward the corners of the mouth. Filler can add support beneath selected areas or replace volume that makes the fold look deeper. A clinician may assess the cheeks, midface, nose, and upper lip rather than treating only the visible crease.

The goal is usually softening, not making the face completely smooth. Skin laxity, facial expression, bone structure, and the way light falls across the fold all affect the appearance. Filler does not tighten loose skin or stop normal smiling, and too much can create heaviness or an unnatural contour.
