Does cortisone injection treat TFCC tear?

The triangular fibrocartilage complex supports the small-finger side of the wrist and helps distribute force between the forearm and wrist bones. An injection may settle inflammation and make movement more comfortable. It does not join a torn structure, correct a displaced injury, or address instability when those are present.

Wrist pain can have several causes, so examination may include grip, rotation, tenderness, and stability checks. Imaging may be considered when the injury pattern or ongoing symptoms needs clarification.

Arrange a wrist assessment if pain on the little-finger side persists, clicking continues, or twisting a handle is difficult. Until then, reduce heavy gripping and forceful rotation. A splint, tailored physiotherapy, and a staged return to activity may be considered alongside or instead of injection treatment.

Before a Cortisone Injection, ask where it will be placed, what symptom it targets, and how the wrist should be protected afterward. Keep track of swelling, clicking, grip, and rotation.

Seek prompt assessment for a wrist that looks deformed, becomes suddenly weak or numb, or cannot rotate after an injury. Get urgent help for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, fever, or severe pain following an injection.

Ask whether the TFCC appears stable, whether the pain is from the tear or nearby inflammation, what protection is needed, and when further treatment should be considered if function does not improve.
