Does chemical peel treat periorbital hyperpigmentation?

Periorbital hyperpigmentation refers to darker skin around the eyes. Darkness can reflect surface pigment, thin skin showing underlying vessels, shadow from hollowness, rubbing, eczema, or a combination of these factors. A peel can affect superficial pigment but will not correct a structural shadow or vascular colour. The closeness of the eyes means product placement, concentration, and protection of the eye surface require particular care.

Have the area assessed by a clinician experienced with treatments around the eyes. Mention eczema, allergies, frequent rubbing, contact-lens use, and any product that causes watering or stinging. Do not apply acids or scrub the eyelids at home unless instructed.
