Does chemical peel treat acanthosis nigricans?

Acanthosis nigricans causes darker, thicker, velvety skin, often in folds such as the neck, underarms, or groin. A peel can remove some surface cells and may make the area appear smoother or less dark. It cannot correct the metabolic, hormonal, medication-related, or other factor that may be contributing to the skin change. Irritation can worsen darkening, particularly when folds rub or remain moist.
