Does carpal tunnel release help with hand numbness?

The median nerve passes through a narrow passage at the wrist. Swelling or reduced space can disturb its signals, causing tingling or reduced feeling in the thumb, index, middle, and part of the ring finger. Carpal tunnel release divides the tight ligament over the passage to give the nerve more room.
