A blocked Bartholin gland can form a fluid-filled pocket near the vaginal opening. Inflammation, infection, or pressure on nearby tissue may make sitting, walking, or sexual activity uncomfortable. Marsupialisation opens the cyst and leaves a drainage pathway, which can reduce the source of pressure. Pain may not settle at once because the treated area can remain tender while it heals.

Use only the pain relief and wound-care measures recommended for you. Keep the area clean, wear loose clothing, and avoid squeezing the wound.
