Does acid reflux medication treat Helicobacter pylori infection?

Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that can live in the stomach and contribute to inflammation, ulcers, or upper abdominal symptoms. Acid-reducing medicine lowers acid exposure and can help an irritated stomach or ulcer heal. It does not act as the complete treatment for the bacterium. When infection is confirmed or strongly suspected, a clinician selects a combination plan that may include acid suppression and antimicrobial medicines.
