Does a plastic surgery perform neck lift?

A neck lift, also called platysmaplasty, is surgery intended to improve selected signs of looseness or banding in the neck. Depending on your anatomy, the plan may address excess skin, the platysma muscle or fat beneath the chin. A neck lift is not identical to a facelift, although the procedures may sometimes be discussed together when the jawline and lower face are also a concern. The surgeon will explain incision sites, anaesthesia, expected swelling and how healing can affect the early appearance.

Bring your health history and a complete list of medicines and supplements. Mention nicotine use, allergies, previous neck or face procedures, bleeding problems and any difficulty healing. Ask to see the proposed treatment area explained in plain language, including what the operation will not change. Plan for help with transport and daily tasks if the team expects movement, swelling or medication to affect you after surgery.

Following surgery, report increasing redness, fever, worsening pain, heavy bleeding, wound separation, rapidly expanding swelling or trouble swallowing to the surgical team. Emergency care is appropriate for severe breathing difficulty, chest pain, fainting or sudden weakness. A new illness or medicine before surgery should also be reported so the team can reassess timing.

Ask which neck structures are contributing to your concern, whether a facelift or another option would be more appropriate, how scars are positioned and what recovery restrictions apply. Discuss changes in sensation, asymmetry, infection, follow-up and the exact warning signs that require urgent review.
