Cone biopsy removes a cone-shaped section of the cervix for detailed laboratory examination. A referral to gynaecologic oncology may occur after an abnormal screening result, colposcopy, or biopsy that cannot fully define the area of concern. The specialist considers the location of the abnormal cells, the adequacy of earlier samples, and your reproductive plans. The procedure is diagnostic in many situations; its purpose is not, by itself, proof that cancer is present.

Bring your cervical screening and biopsy reports, a list of medicines, and information about allergies or bleeding disorders.
