Does a cosmetic dermatology perform picosecond laser treatment?

A picosecond laser delivers very brief pulses of focused energy. Depending on the device and settings, the clinician may use it to target selected pigment, tattoo ink or uneven skin texture. The energy is adjusted for the treatment area, ink or pigment characteristics and your skin tone. It is not automatically suitable for every mark: some changes need diagnosis before cosmetic treatment, and recently tanned or irritated skin may require postponement.

Bring a list of medicines, previous laser treatments, recent sun exposure and any history of cold sores or dark marks after skin injury. Ask what the laser is intended to change, whether a test spot is appropriate, how many appointments may be considered and what the recovery period could involve. Follow instructions about sun protection and skin products. Avoid treating a changing or unexplained lesion without a proper medical assessment.

Temporary redness, warmth, swelling or pigment darkening can follow laser treatment. Contact the clinic if discomfort is worsening, blisters or extensive crusting develop, the area shows pus, or redness spreads. Seek urgent help for facial swelling, breathing difficulty or faintness. Keep the area protected as instructed and do not remove peeling skin or apply home remedies that were not recommended.
