Do you need embryo transfer after ovarian stimulation?

Ovarian stimulation uses medicines to encourage follicles in the ovaries to grow. Egg collection may follow, but the collected eggs are not embryos. An embryo exists only after an egg has been fertilised and developed in a laboratory.

Depending on your plan, collected eggs may be fertilised, frozen unfertilised, or not used for transfer. If embryos are created, transfer may take place in the same cycle or later. If no embryo is created, there is nothing to transfer, and your clinician will discuss the available alternatives.
