An IV vitamin drip delivers selected nutrients through a vein. The need for an infusion depends on your symptoms, diet, medical history, laboratory findings when relevant, and whether an oral option would meet the same need. A drip promoted for general energy or wellness is not automatically appropriate for every person.

Before treatment, the clinician should check allergies, kidney and liver problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding, current medicines, and any previous reaction to an infusion. General practice can provide this review and may direct you elsewhere when a specific deficiency or illness needs investigation.
