A health check is an opportunity to review your medical history, medicines, lifestyle, symptoms and preventive needs. Depending on your age, health history and concerns, the clinician may check vital signs and recommend targeted tests or screening. It is not a substitute for prompt assessment of a new or worsening symptom, and a single visit cannot address every possible condition.

Contact a family-medicine or internal-medicine clinic and ask whether you can book directly or need a referral under your local arrangements. Prepare your medicine list, previous reports, vaccination history and family-history details. Mention specific concerns when booking so the appointment can be planned appropriately. Ask which tests require preparation, such as fasting, before attending.

Arrange prompt medical care for chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, fainting, sudden weakness, confusion, heavy bleeding or a rapidly worsening illness. Do not wait for an annual appointment to discuss a new lump, persistent unexplained weight change, severe pain or symptoms that are disrupting normal activities; these need an earlier clinical assessment.
