How long does the diphtheria vaccine last?

Diphtheria vaccine protection can lessen over time, so booster doses may be recommended at particular ages or after specific risks; your clinician can check your record and advise when the next dose is due. The vaccine trains your immune system to recognise diphtheria toxin.
