The term usually refers to a technique and aesthetic preference rather than a separate type of filler. It often focuses on lifting the visible lip border, defining the cupid’s bow, and creating a more heart-shaped or vertically projected appearance. Some practitioners use small, carefully placed injections from the lip border toward the centre; others adapt the pattern to the person’s proportions. The amount and placement should be selected for your existing lip shape, facial balance, skin quality, and movement.

A Russian-style result is not suitable for every lip. Adding product can also increase fullness, soften lines, or improve asymmetry, but these aims may require a different plan. Hyaluronic acid is commonly used because it can be assessed during treatment and managed by a qualified clinician if a correction is needed.
