A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, commonly combines abdominal-wall tightening with removal or repositioning of excess skin. A diastasis repair without that procedure focuses on bringing the separated abdominal tissues together, often through an approach chosen by a surgeon after examination and imaging when needed. The incision, access route, anaesthetic and recovery can vary. Repair may address functional problems such as poor abdominal support, but it does not automatically correct every cause of back pain, pelvic symptoms or abdominal contour. Clarify the exact repair, scar location, expected hospital stay, lifting restrictions, follow-up schedule, possible complications and alternatives.
