What should you know about diaper rash types?

Irritant nappy rash often affects surfaces that rub against the nappy and may spare deeper folds. Yeast-related rash can be vivid red, involve folds and show small spots near the main area. Contact dermatitis may appear after a new wipe, cream, nappy or detergent and can extend beyond the usual nappy zone. Less common conditions can resemble these patterns, so appearance is a clue rather than a diagnosis.

Keep changes frequent, rinse gently, pat dry and use a bland protective barrier. Stop newly introduced fragranced products and avoid talc, scrubbing and harsh antiseptics.
