What should you know about diaper rash skin peeling treatment?

Moisture and friction can make the outer skin layer soft and fragile, so it may flake or lift during a nappy change. Contact with stool, urine, wipes or a new product can add irritation. Peeling does not by itself show that the rash is a yeast infection. Yeast is more concerning when redness is vivid, reaches the folds, or has small separate spots nearby; a clinician can distinguish this from simple irritation and other causes.

Rinse with lukewarm water, use a soft cloth, and pat dry without pulling at loose skin. Avoid picking, scrubbing, fragranced products, talc and antiseptics. Apply a bland, thick barrier layer and change nappies promptly. If the area is very raw, allow brief air exposure when safe and practical.
