What should you know about Dermasil dry skin treatment?

Dry skin, also called xerosis, loses water more easily when its protective outer layer is disrupted. Cleansing, hot weather, indoor air, frequent handwashing and irritating products can all contribute. An emollient such as a Dermasil moisturiser can leave a protective layer on the surface, reduce roughness and make scaling less noticeable. It may help symptoms without identifying an underlying condition such as asteatotic eczema, atopic dermatitis or psoriasis.

Apply moisturiser soon after a short, lukewarm wash, while the skin is still slightly damp. Use enough to cover the dry area and reapply when the skin feels tight, especially after washing your hands. Choose gentle, fragrance-free cleansing where possible, pat rather than scrub, and avoid picking flakes. If a product stings, causes a rash or contains an ingredient you know irritates you, stop using it and ask a pharmacist or clinician about another emollient. Arrange a medical review if dryness is widespread, keeps returning despite regular moisturising, or is accompanied by intense itch, cracks, bleeding, pain, swelling or oozing.
