What should you know about dermal filler breast enhancement?

Dermal fillers are designed for selected soft-tissue applications, most often in the face. The breast is a different structure with glandular tissue, fat, ducts, and imaging needs. Injecting filler there can create lumps, inflammation, migration, or changes that resemble other breast findings. A filler injection also does not provide the same structural reshaping as a breast operation, and it is not a general answer for size, sagging, asymmetry, or breast reconstruction.

The appropriate alternative depends on the goal. A plastic surgeon may discuss surgery, fat transfer, or observation after examining you. Fat Transfer is a separate procedure that uses your own tissue; it should not be treated as equivalent to a dermal filler. Never use an unlabelled or unverified injectable product.

Start with a consultation from a qualified plastic surgeon or breast specialist who can discuss your desired change and examine your breast health. Mention previous breast surgery, implants, lumps, nipple discharge, pregnancy or breastfeeding, medicines, allergies, and any planned imaging. Ask how the proposed procedure would affect future mammograms, ultrasound, MRI, or biopsy. Confirm the product, intended tissue plane, follow-up pathway, and how a persistent lump would be investigated. A second opinion is sensible when the proposed treatment is not a standard option for the stated goal.

After any breast injection, seek prompt medical advice for increasing redness, warmth, pain, swelling, fever, a new or growing lump, skin breakdown, nipple discharge, or a change in breast shape. Sudden breathing difficulty, facial swelling, faintness, or widespread hives needs emergency care. Do not assume a new lump is caused by filler; it needs clinical assessment.
