Dark spots from ingrown hair at the bikini line

A hair that curls into nearby skin can cause a small inflamed bump, tenderness, or itch. Picking, squeezing, close shaving, and repeated waxing can deepen the irritation. After the bump settles, pigment may remain as a brown, grey, or darker mark even when the hair is no longer trapped. Multiple recurrent bumps may also reflect shaving technique, follicle inflammation, or an underlying rash. A flat mark differs from a growing lump, draining spot, ulcer, or thick scar, which needs an in-person look.

Pause hair removal over active bumps, use a clean sharp razor when you resume, and shave in the direction of growth with lubrication.
