Short answer

A cure for itchy feet depends on the cause, so treatment may involve keeping skin dry, avoiding irritants, or using a clinician-recommended medicine.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Common clues
Scaling between toes, blisters, cracks, or irritation from contact

What itchy feet can mean

Athlete's foot commonly affects the spaces between the toes and may cause scaling, cracking, burning, or itching. Contact dermatitis can follow exposure to footwear materials, detergents, or personal-care products. Dyshidrotic eczema may produce very small, intensely itchy blisters on the soles or sides of the feet. These conditions can look alike, so the appearance and location of the rash matter.

A fungal infection needs antifungal treatment, while irritation improves when the trigger is removed. Scratching can break the skin and make discomfort or secondary infection more likely.

Steps that may help

Wash gently, dry carefully between the toes, and change damp socks promptly. Choose breathable footwear and rotate shoes so they can dry. Avoid sharing towels, socks, or shoes if a fungal infection is possible. Do not apply several new creams at once; some products can irritate inflamed skin or hide useful clues during an examination.

A clinician may recommend a course of topical antifungal treatment when the pattern fits a fungal infection. Use it as directed and continue only for the advised duration. If the rash is caused by dermatitis or eczema, the plan will be different.

When to seek care

Arrange medical advice if itching persists, returns repeatedly, spreads, or is accompanied by painful cracks, blisters, swelling, pus, or marked redness. Seek prompt care for rapidly worsening pain, warmth, fever, or difficulty walking. People with diabetes, reduced circulation, or a weakened immune system should seek advice early when foot skin is broken.

Questions for your doctor

Ask which cause best matches the rash, whether a skin sample is needed, how long treatment should be used, and how to prevent recurrence in footwear or between household contacts.

Questions people ask

Can itchy feet clear without medicine?

Mild irritation may settle after the trigger is removed, but persistent or scaly symptoms need assessment because fungal infection may require antifungal treatment.

Should I scratch itchy feet?

Try not to scratch; broken skin can hurt and allow bacteria to enter. Keep nails short and use the recommended treatment instead.
