What should you know about constant runny nose for months?

Sinusitis may add blocked passages, facial pressure, reduced smell, or thick mucus. A previous cold or COVID-19 can leave nasal symptoms during recovery, while smoke, fragrance, dry air, and temperature changes can keep the lining irritated. The duration does not by itself identify the cause.

Book a routine appointment and bring a simple symptom record: one or both nostrils, discharge appearance, daily triggers, congestion, smell changes, facial pain, fever, and treatments already tried. Reduce smoke and strong scents, keep living spaces comfortably ventilated, and ask a pharmacist about saline care or allergy treatment. Avoid extending a decongestant spray beyond its instructions, as repeated use can worsen blockage. A clinician may examine the nose and decide whether further assessment is needed.
