What should you know about color tattoo laser removal?

Laser energy is absorbed by tattoo pigment and converted into a brief burst of heat. The ink breaks into smaller particles, which are then cleared gradually by the body. A tattoo with several colours may need different settings or more than one laser wavelength because pigments do not all absorb light in the same way. White, yellow, green, blue, and red areas can behave differently from black ink.

The result depends on ink depth, density, age, location, skin tone, and whether the tattoo was professionally applied or placed at home. The treated area may look darker, lighter, swollen, or crusted temporarily.

Choose a qualified medical provider who can identify the colours present and assess your skin before treatment. Avoid tanning and tell the provider about recent sun exposure, medicines, previous scarring, and any history of pigment changes. After a session, keep the area clean, protect it from sunlight, and do not pick blisters or crusts. Use only the aftercare products advised for your skin.
