What should you know about CO2 laser for droopy eyelids?

Droopy eyelids may result from excess upper-eyelid skin, weakened supporting tissues, brow position, eyelid muscle changes, or a combination. Dermatochalasis refers mainly to redundant skin. CO2 resurfacing treats the skin surface and can stimulate collagen, so it may help texture and mild laxity but does not remove a fold or repair deeper support.

If the upper lid feels heavy, the brow is compensating, or side vision is reduced, a focused examination matters. The useful option may be a surgical or non-surgical plan, depending on anatomy and the functional effect.

Mention dry eye, glaucoma, thyroid disease, eyelid surgery, contact lenses, cold sores, medicines, and any change in vision. Ask the clinician to assess both eyelids, the brow, skin quality, and the visual field before choosing a laser setting.
