A silicone sheet sits over the scar as a flexible covering. It helps reduce friction and limits water loss from the surface, which can make a healed scar feel less dry or tight. Scar colour, thickness, softness, and symptoms change gradually, and the response varies between people.

Use only on skin that has closed. A sheet should not cover an open wound, drainage, untreated infection, or fresh scab unless the treating clinician specifically advises it. It is different from scar revision surgery, which is a procedure used for selected scars after assessment.

Wash and dry the skin gently before applying the sheet. Start with the wear schedule supplied by the clinic or product instructions, especially if your skin is sensitive. Remove it to wash the area and the sheet, then allow both to dry before reapplying. Keep the edges smooth so they do not rub.

Pause use and contact a clinician if the reaction continues. Protect the scar from strong sun as advised, since healing skin can darken with exposure.

Arrange medical review if the scar becomes increasingly raised, painful, itchy, warm, or extends beyond the original injury. Seek prompt care for pus, spreading redness, fever, wound separation, or significant swelling. A rapidly enlarging scar may need more than home silicone care.
