How long does cholera vaccine protection last?

The date of your last dose alone cannot answer whether you are protected for a later journey. Different products have different schedules and follow-up advice. Vaccination helps prevent cholera but cannot stop every exposure or cure infection. The bacteria can enter through contaminated food or water, so everyday precautions remain relevant even after vaccination.

Keep a written record of the product and dates of every dose. Before a future trip, ask a travel-health professional to review whether further vaccination is advised. Do not repeat or combine doses without checking, particularly if you are pregnant, immunocompromised, or taking regular medicines.
