What should you know about chin filler to elongate the face?

A chin can look short because of its position, shape, soft-tissue coverage or the relationship between the lips, nose and lower face. Hyaluronic acid filler can add forward projection and, when appropriate, some downward contour. This changes the visible outline rather than lengthening bone. A longer-looking chin is not automatically more balanced: excess projection may make the face look heavy or alter the natural transition beneath the lower lip.

Tell the injector whether your priority is side-profile length, front-view balance or a clearer chin point. Ask for photographs and a discussion of how your bite, lower lip and existing facial proportions affect the plan. Mention previous injections, skin inflammation, allergies and medicines that may increase bruising. Arrange the treatment when you can allow for swelling and avoid manipulating the area afterward unless instructed. A planned review is useful before deciding whether any further change is needed.

Contact the treating clinic promptly if swelling, pain or redness is worsening, or if you notice drainage, fever or a rapidly changing firm area. Seek urgent medical help for vision disturbance, severe headache, weakness, speech difficulty, or skin that becomes unusually pale, dark or intensely painful. These symptoms require timely assessment.
