What does childhood cancer mean in children?

It is an umbrella term rather than one diagnosis. Different cancers begin in different cells or organs, behave differently, and require care tailored to the child and the exact cancer type.

Normal cells follow signals that control when they grow, divide, and die. Cancer develops when some cells stop responding properly to those controls. They may form a solid tumour or build up in the blood and bone marrow, depending on where the disease starts.
