Causes of sneezing too much

Sneezing is a protective reflex that clears particles and irritants from the nose. Allergic rhinitis often causes repeated sneezing with an itchy or runny nose, especially after exposure to pollen, house dust, or animals. House dust mite allergy and pet allergy are possible patterns when symptoms return in particular rooms or around a specific animal.

A common cold may bring sneezing alongside a blocked nose, sore throat, cough, or feeling unwell. Dry air, smoke, perfume, cleaning products, and sudden temperature changes can irritate the nasal lining without causing an infection. Notice when episodes happen and whether eye itching, fever, or nasal discharge accompanies them.

Reduce exposure to a trigger when you can, ventilate rooms, and avoid smoke and strongly scented sprays. Gentle saline nasal rinsing may help remove irritants; use clean water and follow product instructions. Rest and drink fluids if sneezing occurs with cold symptoms.

If allergy symptoms keep returning, a clinician or pharmacist can discuss suitable allergy medication and how to use it safely. Do not start several new products at once, because that makes it harder to identify what helps or causes side effects.
