Emergency assessment is needed for blood in vomit, tar-like stools, new confusion, fainting, or rapidly worsening abdominal swelling. Yellow eyes or skin, swollen ankles, easy bleeding, persistent nausea, and increasing fatigue should prompt timely medical review. Such changes can reflect complications of advanced liver disease, regardless of whether hepatitis C has already been treated.
