What should you know about breast aug with fat transfer?

During Fat Transfer, a surgeon removes fat from a donor area, processes it, and places it into the breasts with small injections. This can combine breast contouring with reshaping at the donor site, but it does not provide the same type of volume control as an implant. Some transferred fat may not remain, and changes in body weight can alter the result. Calcification or lumps can occur and may need examination or imaging.

Bring a clear description of the size, shape, and symmetry you want, plus your medical history, medicines, smoking status, and previous breast procedures. Your surgeon will assess donor areas, breast tissue, skin quality, and screening needs. Ask how many stages may be considered, where incisions and injections will be placed, what support garments are needed, and how activity will be limited during recovery. Compare the approach with implant surgery and understand follow-up arrangements.

After surgery, contact your care team for increasing one-sided swelling, worsening pain, spreading redness, wound separation, pus, fever, shortness of breath, or chest pain. A new persistent lump, skin change, nipple change, or unusual discharge also needs assessment rather than being assumed to be a normal fat-transfer change.
